The oldest, quietest craft
Ancestor work frightens people until they realize how plain it is. You are not summoning ghosts. You are sitting down, on purpose, with the ones who made you — and letting their steadiness lend you some.
A simple beginning
Set a small place: a photo, a name spoken aloud, an object that was theirs if you have one, a glass of water. Tell them, plainly, what you're carrying. Ask for steadiness, not miracles. Then be quiet long enough to notice what surfaces — an old phrase, a remembered way they'd have handled it. That surfacing is the guidance. Comfort is what happens when you stop grieving at them and start listening to them.
